The Haunted Depot

The Depot restaurant, once a bustling train station, has earned a reputation as one of Torrance’s most haunted landmarks. Guests and staff alike whisper of spirits that still linger among the old arches and rail lines.

Arturo the Helpful Spirit
The most beloved ghost is Arturo, a loyal employee from the 1990s. Known in life for fixing, cleaning, and helping wherever needed, he is said to have remained after death. Staff claim the ticket printer sometimes spits out his name, and misplaced spoons or wine keys mysteriously reappear in neat order. Far from frightening, Arturo is considered a guardian spirit—still keeping the restaurant running smoothly.

The Green Lady
Many have reported glimpses of a woman in green seen only in mirrors, polished glass, or dark windowpanes. She stands as though waiting at a platform, watching for a train that will never arrive.

The Conductor
Some say an unseen “conductor” still patrols the building. Kitchen doors swing open on their own, and the ticket rail sometimes clicks mysteriously, as though someone is urging staff to stay on schedule.

Other Murmurs
In the basement, chairs scrape or a lighter flicks endlessly with no one present. During storms, soft crying has been heard in the service hallway, believed to be tied to an unsent letter found during renovations.

Though a few tales lean toward the eerie, The Depot’s spirits are regarded with warmth and curiosity. More than hauntings, they are seen as reminders that this historic landmark is still alive with the echoes of its past.

👻 Black  Raven  Tattoo

On Sartori Avenue, the bold red-brick storefront of Black Raven Tattoo hums with the buzz of tattoo machines and the scent of green soap. But behind the needles and ink lies more than art — this historic building has a long and haunted past.

The Building’s History

  • Early 1900s – Once a bustling department store called Ella’s, owned by Ella Schwartz. Her name still remains on a plaque outside. Locals whispered that after closing, Ella would host late-night séances upstairs, candlelight flickering in the windows long after the shop was shut.

  • 1980s Fire – A blaze tore through the building. Firefighters swore they heard voices inside the flames — screams and laughter that didn’t stop when the fire was out.

  • The Upstairs Apartments – Years later, tragedy struck when a tenant ended his life with a gunshot. Residents say the sharp crack of that gunshot can still be heard at night, echoing down the stairwell.

  • Other Secrets – The back rooms once held a secret Masonic lodge, and later, a business that arranged burials at sea. Some say the walls still carry symbols hidden beneath layers of plaster — and an unshakable chill of salt air.

The Haunting Today

Artists working late report unnerving activity:

  • A stereo turning on by itself hours after closing.

  • A vintage arcade game powering up on its own.

  • A chair caught on camera sliding across the floor.

  • A picture that suddenly flew off the wall.

  • Objects that move when no one is watching.

  • Whispers drifting through the quiet shop at night.

Most chilling are the shadowy figures. More than one artist has seen them — dark forms slipping across the room, standing silently in corners, vanishing when approached.

Who Still Walks Here?

Some believe it is Ella herself, tending her store long after death. Others point to the man who died upstairs. A few whisper that the fire opened something older — something the Masons tried, and failed, to contain.

One thing is certain: those who work here are not alone.

So if you wander past Black Raven Tattoo late at night, glance in the window. You may just see a shadow move — in a shop that should be empty.

👻 Street faire Antiques

Step inside Streetfaire Antiques in Old Torrance and you may find more than just collectibles. This charming shop is rumored to house spirits attached to the very objects on display.

Locals believe some antiques hold more than history — they carry the energy of those who once loved them. Visitors have reported cold spots, whispered voices, and the unsettling feeling of being watched while browsing the aisles.

The Rocking Chair

The most infamous artifact here is a child-sized rocking chair, marked with dark scorch stains. Legend says a young child once played in the chair, rocked too far, and tumbled back into an open fireplace. Though the flames were smothered, the child was lost.

The chair remains — and it doesn’t rest quietly. Guests say it rocks on its own, even when the air is still. Some feel a chilling hand press against their back as they lean near it… as though warning them not to fall. Employees have even found the chair moved across the shop overnight, never where they left it.

Other Phenomena

  • Antique mirrors said to shimmer with faces that aren’t your own.

  • Footsteps echoing down the aisles after closing.

  • Laughter of a child drifting through the shop, though no child is there.

  • Objects quietly shifting places as if arranged by invisible hands.

Streetfaire Antiques may sell relics of the past — but some say the past is very much alive here.

Dare to wander inside… and see if something wanders back with you.
